Account & Billing

How do I cancel my subscription?

Your subscription is managed through the Apple App Store. To cancel:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Tap your name at the top
  3. Tap Subscriptions
  4. Find ProgressPilot and tap Cancel Subscription

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep premium features until then. The free tier remains available after cancellation.

How do I restore my purchases?

If you reinstalled the app or switched devices, your subscription should restore automatically when you sign in. If it doesn’t, go to Settings within the app and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe.

What’s included in the free tier?

Manual workout logging, the full exercise catalog (166 exercises), session-level Performance Index scoring, personal record detection, rest timer, Siri Shortcuts, Home Screen widget, 3 saved routines, and 30 days of session history. AI coaching, the custom workout builder, the Coach Check-In, full analytics, and premium features require a subscription.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the ProgressPilot charge, and request a refund.

Account & Data

How do I delete my account and data?

You can initiate account deletion directly in the app under Settings > Delete Account.

Deleting your ProgressPilot account removes the account and data we control, including:

  • Your Firebase authentication account
  • Local app data on the device

Apple subscriptions are billed and managed separately by Apple. Deleting your ProgressPilot account does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription. If you also want to stop renewal, cancel your subscription in iPhone Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions, or use the Manage App Store Subscription link, before completing deletion.

Data synced through your personal iCloud account can be removed from your device or iCloud settings. Contacting support is optional if you need additional help or believe some associated data still remains.

How do I export my data?

Go to Settings in the app and tap Export Data. Everyone gets a free, complete JSON export of everything ProgressPilot stores about your training — profile, sessions, routines, progression history, and more. Premium subscribers can also export a CSV file with one row per set (sessions, exercises, sets, reps, weights, and PI scores).

How do I make a privacy request?

Contact us at [email protected] to exercise your GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, or objection). We aim to respond within one month. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

AI & Workouts

The AI is not designing my session — what do I do?

AI features require an internet connection and an active premium subscription (or active trial). If the AI is unavailable:

  • Check your internet connection
  • Verify your subscription is active in iOS Settings > Subscriptions
  • The app automatically falls back to deterministic programming when the AI is unreachable — you’ll always have a workout

If the issue persists, contact us with your device model and iOS version.

How do I change my training days or goal?

Go to Settings in the app and tap Edit Profile. You can change your training goal (strength, hypertrophy, general fitness), how often you train, equipment access, and session length. Changes save immediately and take effect the next time your coach designs a session. Specific weekdays are optional and only used for reminder timing — they never lock you to a schedule.

Can I use the app offline?

Yes. All core features work without internet: set logging, rest timer, Performance Index scoring, personal record detection, and the Home Screen widget. AI features need a connection, but every AI feature has a smart offline fallback so you always have a workout ready.

How do I save and reuse a workout as a routine?

Open My Routines on the Home screen and build the routine on a single canvas: name it inline, add exercises, drag the cards to reorder them, and set the number of sets and reps for each exercise (pre-filled from your training goal). Tap Save Routine to keep it, or Start now to save and train it immediately.

To change a routine later, use the “…” menu on its card and pick Edit. Free members can keep three routines; premium is unlimited. Premium members can also tap New (+) on the My Routines header to start the AI workout builder instead of building by hand.

How do I build my own workout instead of the coach’s suggestion?

Tap + New in My Routines on the Home screen. Pick a focus (Push / Pull / Legs / Upper Body / Lower Body / Full Body) and a length (30 / 45 / 60 min), and optionally add a note about today — busy equipment, an area you want to go easy on, however you’re feeling. The wizard opens already set to your last choice, or to the focus your coach suggests.

For premium users the AI proposes a complete session in the routine builder, with a line explaining why it picked those exercises. From there you can edit, reorder, or remove anything; tap an exercise and choose Swap for three alternatives that fit the rest of the routine; or use Ask again for a whole new combination (with an Undo if you prefer the old one). As you build, the top of the screen shows how long the session is estimated to take against the length you asked for, and how your sets land across muscle groups. Then start it, or save it as a Routine for later.

Free users see the same wizard and can build from the full exercise catalog with “Build it myself”. The AI suggestion step is the premium part.

How does the Coach Check-In work?

The Coach Check-In is a premium ad-hoc training analysis in the Coach tab. When you feel stuck, run it and the AI reviews your last several weeks of training and returns a headline, what’s working, what’s holding you back, and an impact-ordered action plan (each item tagged volume / intensity / recovery / variety / form / consistency). With at least 4 weeks of training and 12 completed sessions, you get a “deep” analysis that cites concrete data points; with less history, the check-in focuses on fundamentals and acknowledges the short window.

You can run one check-in per week so the analysis stays meaningful. During the cooldown the card in the Coach tab shows when the next one is available and lets you re-open the most recent one. The advice is read-only — your sessions, routines, and settings are never changed automatically.

Exercise videos won’t play

Demonstration videos are a premium feature and require an active subscription (or trial) plus an internet connection. If a video doesn’t load, the app falls back to the static illustration automatically. If you’re on premium and still see only illustrations, open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases, or sign out and back in.

How do I stop being suggested an exercise I don’t want to do?

If you swap the same exercise out three times, ProgressPilot automatically marks it to avoid in future AI-generated workouts and shows a toast with an Undo option. The exclusion applies to coach-designed sessions, session targets, build-your-own sessions, and the exercise swap picker — everywhere the AI picks for you.

You can review and re-enable any excluded exercise under Settings > Training Profile > Exercise Preferences. Manual exercise selection from the full catalog is never restricted.

What happens if I miss a few days of training?

Nothing to make up. There is no plan to fall behind on — whenever you come back, your coach designs that day’s session from your training history, and the gap is simply part of what it reasons over when choosing focus and load. Longer layoffs are handled by easing back in, not by piling on the sessions you skipped.

Apple Health & Permissions

How do I enable or disable HealthKit?

HealthKit access is optional. To manage it:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Go to Privacy & Security > Health
  3. Find ProgressPilot
  4. Toggle individual permissions on or off
What health data does the app read and write?

Reads: Recent cardio workouts (running, cycling, swimming, walking, hiking, rowing, elliptical, stair climbing) — activity type, duration and distance. This helps your AI coach factor cross-training load into the sessions it designs. We do not read body weight from Apple Health — if you want calorie estimates, you enter it in the app instead.

Writes: Completed strength training workouts with their duration (capped at three hours), plus an active-energy estimate when you have entered a body weight under Settings → Training Profile → About you. That weight stays on your device and is used for nothing else.

A summary of up to five cardio workouts — activity type, duration, distance, and a relative recency such as “2 days ago” — is included in AI coaching prompts sent to our Cloudflare Worker and forwarded to OpenAI. No absolute dates, heart-rate or route data are sent, and our proxy stores no prompt content. You can stop this at any time with “Use my cardio for coaching” in Settings → Apple Health. See privacy policy §3.5 for the full detail.

What are the system requirements?

ProgressPilot requires iOS 17 or later on iPhone. The app also supports iPad via iCloud sync. An internet connection is needed for AI features, but the app works offline with deterministic fallbacks.
